When you choose a jacket, you expect protection, comfort and durability. But one crucial detail is often overlooked – the coating that keeps it water-repellent. For decades, many brands relied on PFAS – fluorinated chemicals that repel water and stains but linger in the environment for generations.

At B&C, we did things differently. Every style in our B&C Reset Outerwear collection uses a PFAS- and Fluorine-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating, giving reliable water repellence without harmful chemistry. This wasn’t an afterthought, it was planned, tested and built into the collection from the start.

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances ) are prized for their water, oil and stain resistant powers. The problem? They don’t break down naturally and accumulate in soil, water and living organisms – earning the nickname ‘’forever chemicals’’.

With growing scientific evidence of environmental and health risks, regulators across Europe are tightening rules. In France, a ban on PFAS in textiles will take effect from January 2026, meaning every garment on the French market must be free of these chemicals. In Denmark, a ban is already in effect, and EU-wide regulations (as part of EU REACH*) are under consideration.
